Braves Rally From Three Down to Stun Phillies, 5-4

Atlanta entered Citizens Bank Park on Sunday and found itself in a hole before the game had barely started. Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Luis Arraez plated Kyle Schwarber on a sacrifice fly to center in the bottom of the first, and Alec Bohm followed with a line drive double to left that scored Trea Turner, putting the Phillies up 2-0 before the Braves had recorded a single run.

Atlanta Braves right fielder Ronald Acuña Jr. trimmed it to 2-1 in the top of the sixth, lifting a sacrifice fly to right that scored Mike Yastrzemski. But Philadelphia answered in the bottom of the seventh. Derek Hill led off with a solo home run to left, his 10th of the year, and Kyle Schwarber followed with his 42nd of the season to right, pushing the Phillies to 4-1. The Braves' win probability had fallen to 4.9% heading into the top of the eighth — three runs down on the road, six outs remaining.

That's when Acuña changed the game. With Yastrzemski and Drake Baldwin aboard, the Braves outfielder drove a fly ball to left-center for his 16th home run of the year, a three-run shot that scored both runners and tied it at 4-4 in the top of the eighth.

The game stayed level through the eighth. In the top of the ninth, Atlanta third baseman Austin Riley — who had gone 0-for-3 to that point — laced a sharp line drive to center on a triple, scoring Ozzie Albies from first and putting the Braves ahead for the first time all night.
