Marlins Erase Six-Run Deficit, Walk Off Phillies 8-6 in Miami

MIA def. PHI · July 29, 2026 · Final: Marlins 8, Phillies 6

Miami trailed Philadelphia 6-0 after the top of the fifth, the Marlins' win probability sitting at 3.3%. The Phillies had built their lead methodically — Bryson Stott's two-run double in the top of the third, J.T. Realmuto scoring on a Bryan De La Cruz sacrifice fly in the fourth, then Trea Turner's solo home run, Bryce Harper's RBI triple, and Alec Bohm's run-scoring single in the fifth to push it to six. The hole looked close to final.

Miami started climbing in the bottom of the fifth. Marlins shortstop Otto Lopez grounded out, but the play scored Esteury Ruiz to make it 6-1. Then Marlins left fielder Heriberto Hernández sent a two-run home run to left center, scoring Brian Navarreto and cutting the deficit to 6-3.

The Marlins stayed down going into the seventh, but the inning cracked Philadelphia's lead open. Lopez lined a single to center, scoring Ruiz again to make it 6-4. Two batters later, Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards lined a single to left, and both Jakob Marsee and Lopez scored — tying the game at 6-6.

The game stayed level through the seventh and into the eighth. Then Marlins pinch hitter Griffin Conine stepped in and drove a two-run home run to center field in the bottom of the eighth, scoring Kyle Stowers ahead of him. Miami 8, Philadelphia 6.
