Giants Erase 8-Run Deficit With Walk-Off Grand Slam to Stun Nationals
SF def. WSH · June 10, 2026 · Final: Giants 11, Nationals 10
San Francisco trailed 9-1 in the bottom of the seventh — a hole so deep the Giants' win probability had dropped to 0.2% — and still walked off with an 11-10 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday at Oracle Park.
Washington built the lead methodically. Nationals outfielder James Wood put the visitors up 2-0 in the top of the third with an 18th-homer blast to center that scored Keibert Ruiz. The Nationals extended it further in the top of the sixth, when Daylen Lile's RBI single made it 3-0, Nasim Nuñez followed with a two-run single to push it to 5-0, and Jorbit Vivas added another to make it 6-0. San Francisco third baseman Matt Chapman answered with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to put the Giants on the board, but Washington scored three more in the top of the seventh — on a Luis García Jr. double, a Dylan Crews groundout, and a Lile single — to push the margin to 9-1.
Then the bottom of the eighth happened.
Chapman opened it with his second homer of the night. Giants first baseman Rafael Devers followed with a solo shot of his own to make it 9-3. Catcher Daniel Susac doubled home Jung Hoo Lee to cut it to 9-4, and center fielder Drew Gilbert's groundout scored Bryce Eldridge to bring San Francisco within four at 9-5. Washington added one more in the top of the ninth on a Curtis Mead homer to push back to 10-6.
But the Giants weren't done. In the bottom of the ninth, Chapman's RBI double scored Luis Arraez to make it 10-7. That brought up designated hitter Bryce Eldridge — and he drove a grand slam to right field, scoring Chapman, Devers, and Lee to flip the score to 11-10.
Final: San Francisco Giants 11, Washington Nationals 10.
