Blue Jays Erase Three-Run Deficit, Stun Astros in Extras

Visiting Toronto trailed Houston 3-0 after the bottom of the third, with the Astros building their lead on a Jose Altuve solo home run, a Christian Walker RBI double, and a LaMonte Wade Jr. run-scoring single. Through five innings, the Blue Jays had nothing on the board, and by the top of the sixth their win probability had sunk to 11.3 percent.
Toronto first base man Kazuma Okamoto cracked the scoreboard in the top of the sixth, lining a single to center that scored Myles Straw and made it 3-1. Then Blue Jays left fielder Jesús Sánchez kept the inning alive, launching a two-run home run to right field that scored Okamoto and pulled Toronto even at 3-3.
The game stayed knotted through regulation and into extra innings. In the top of the tenth, with automatic runner Luis Urías on base, Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement drove a fly ball to left field for a two-run home run, putting Toronto ahead 5-3.
Houston answered in the bottom of the tenth. Yordan Alvarez singled sharply to right fielder Nathan Lukes, scoring Jeremy Peña to make it 5-4. Alvarez was thrown out trying to advance, with Lukes firing to shortstop Andrés Giménez to end the threat.
