Athletics Erase Four-Run Hole, Stun Giants 9-6 in Ninth

ATH def. SF · June 25, 2026 · Final: Athletics 9, Giants 6

Visiting Oakland trailed 6-2 heading into the seventh inning, a hole that had the Athletics' win probability sitting at 4.4%. What got them there: a Jung Hoo Lee three-run triple and a Victor Bericoto two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth had turned a 2-1 Oakland lead into a four-run Giants advantage.

Oakland started climbing in the top of the seventh. Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers lined a single to center that scored Jeff McNeil and Alika Williams, pulling the A's within two at 4-6.

The gap closed to one in the top of the eighth. Athletics second baseman Jeff McNeil — playing his third game with Oakland after coming over earlier in the season — drove a sharp single to right, scoring Lawrence Butler to make it 5-6.

Then came the ninth.

Athletics catcher Jonah Heim rolled a ground ball single to left, and Henry Bolte crossed the plate to tie it at 6-6. One batter later, Athletics right fielder Lawrence Butler lined a single to right, and Tyler Soderstrom came home to give Oakland its first lead since the fifth inning — 7-6.

Athletics third baseman Max Muncy finished it. His single to left scored Jonah Heim and Lawrence Butler, pushing the lead to 9-6 and putting the game away.

Oakland 9, San Francisco 6.
