White Sox Erase Four-Run Hole, Walk Off Braves in 10th

CWS def. ATL · June 9, 2026 · Final: Sox 6, Braves 5

Atlanta built a 4-0 lead before Chicago could answer. Braves first baseman Matt Olson did the damage, hitting a two-run homer to right center in the top of the first and a solo shot to left center in the top of the third. An Ozzie Albies force-out play later in the third pushed the Atlanta lead to four, and with the score sitting at 4-0 after three, the White Sox were working with roughly a 13 percent chance of winning.

Chicago White Sox third baseman Miguel Vargas got it started in the bottom of the third, lining a two-run homer to left that brought the score to 4-2. In the bottom of the fourth, White Sox outfielder Braden Montgomery grounded a single to left, scoring first baseman Jacob Gonzalez and pulling Chicago within one.

The game stayed there until the seventh. With Miguel Vargas on base, Gonzalez lined a single to right, scoring Vargas and tying it at 4-4.

Atlanta answered in the top of the tenth. Mauricio Dubón singled to right, scoring Albies from second and putting the Braves back in front, 5-4.

Chicago needed a run to extend the game and one more to win it. Montgomery, with Andrew Benintendi on base, drove a fly ball to left for his first career home run. Benintendi scored ahead of him. The White Sox walked it off, 6-5.
